Creating Godbound

Synergy

Godbound are a demi-divine assemblage of powers and personalities. They have a Patron deity that sponsors them in return for their acts of piety and champion, granting access to powers, and vouching for them when they come to ascend; represented by Dominion. And they have a Fostered numen, a lost, broken, dead or forgotten spirit that has latched onto their soul for some reason, be it by prophesy, partial-incarnation, intentional contract, or simple happenstance; and their relationship and growing power is represented by the Synergy word.   Instead of learning gifts from the word of Apotheosis each level, instead Godbound in Loke may learn one gift from the Synergy list below per level gain. At level 2 they must take the 'Dyad' gift, but beyond that they can take the remaining 8 gifts in any order they like.   The passive power of Synergy grants the Godbound a free point of 'Synergy Effort' at level 1 that functions like normal Effort for all other words and spells, but is also required to activate or maintain your Synergy gifts. As such, it is always assumed to be the last available Effort if it's not already been committed to a Synergy gift. A Godbound only has one Synergy Effort throughout their life, and so they cannot use multiple Synergy gifts at once, they must instead switch the Synergy Effort from one gift to another to activate them. Three of the gifts also require committing the synergy effort for the scene, in this case you cannot use any other Synergy gift until the end of that scene. If you are using glass beads or other tokens to track your Effort, then simply use one of a different colour to represent your Synergy Effort.

Gifts of Syngergy

Dyad (Constant)

Aquired at Level 2. After getting over the initial shock of becoming Godbound to each other, your Foster begins to develop it’s own independent voice in your head, which you may turn to for literal or metaphysical guidance and commentary. Generally, while you are awake they will not talk unless propted first, and when they do it will sound like a disembodied voice that only you can hear. However, when you sleep and dream they may manifest and act as a completely autonomous entity. The relationship that develops between the two of you is for you and your GM to discuss and roleplay out at the table; it may be one of sincere friendship, begrudged cooperation, confused courtship, contractual seriousness, or anything else really; but you’re stuck together now, so better get used to one another.

Vahana (On Turn)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift. Your Foster takes on a companion form, representative of a part of your personality—a spirit animal, so to speak. It appears in your halo while it alights and may then become material. While summoned it functions as an extension of your self: you can sense anything it senses and you may speak through it. By committing additional Effort it takes on a larger form that can be used as a mount or draft beast. It can only be harmed with spirit weapons and magic, but you share the same HP; so if it gets hurt, you will to. Anyone who sees it will surely know it’s a magical being, for it bares some mark of its divine nature (e.g. twin tails, golden fur, one-eyed, hybrid beast, strange aura, etc).

Projection (Action)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift. While meditating, you may let your perceptions release completely out of your physical body and into a dematerialized version of your Foster’s syntagma, creating a completely separate floating point of view within the dreamscape. In this form you can traverse almost anywhere in the world that you know of at near-instantaneous speeds, and you may even project your voice or your vahana to that place if you also have the ‘Vahana’ gift. The immaterial form is not really ‘real’ however, and so the barest amount of magical protection or enough local thinning of the weave will repel your astral projection.

Panoply (On Turn)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift. Your Foster takes on a more abstract physical form as your halo alights – clothes of dancing lights, unreal geometric forms, shards of prismatic eloquence, or something else – which shroud and protect you, solidififying when something strikes out. Your natural armour class is reduced to 3, without penalties to any saving throws.

Armiger (On Turn)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift. Your aegis takes on the form of a melee weapon of your design. It appears in your halo while it alights, wreathed in arcane rings, then solidifies in your hand. The weapon deals 1d10 damage on hit, and always uses your best attribute to make the attack rolls.

Façade (Instant)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift until the end of the scene. Awareness of pain recedes and ceases to impair you as much as the inner spirit absorbs it for a time; causing you halo to gleam ever-brighter! You temporarily gain 1d8 temporariy HP, which can bring you above your normal maximum; though they are lost at the end of the scene, which will knock you out without a wound if that loss would bring you to 0 HP.

Smite (Action)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift until the end of the scene. Unleash the demi-divine wrath of your Foster’s domain unto an enemy in sight, dealing 1d8 damage per character level. There is no save against this damage, it automatically hits.

Corona (Action)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift until the end of the scene. Unleash the demi-divine fury of your Foster’s domain against all enemies or selected targets within a 30-foot radius around you, dealing 1d4 damage per character levels to all targets. There is no save against this damage, it automatically hits.

Intercession (Instant)

Move your Synergy Effort to this Gift until the end of the scene. Your foster manifests within your halo as a momentarily indestructible force which blocks, deflects, negates, or otherwise absorbs any incoming mundane or magical attack absolutely. You may choose to activate this after you see how much an incoming attack will do.

Excellence (Constant)

Choose an attribute appropriate to your Foster’s domain. It is raised to 16 if it was lower score before, raised to 18 if it was already 16 or 17, and raised to 19 if it was already 18. This can stack with other gifts or passives from other words, and is always calculated last to give you best possible attribute score.
Note also that Godbound in this setting cannot learn the Universal Gifts on pg 29, so some of the options in the Synergy list replace what's available there. Only 'Effort of the Word' can be taken as many times as one wishes for 2 gift points each time, and 'Influence of the Word' can be taken only 5 times in total for 1 gift point each time.
