Sylucia the Great
The Waterlight Sylucia (a.k.a. Who united the Water and Sky)
Sylucia the Great, the Waterlight, the builder of safe-harbour, was a hero who appeared in the Age of Festering and was said to be the leader that established the city of Cyra as it now stands. She is regarded by Cyreans as a god of safe-harbour, luck on sea voyages, storms, battle and plenty. Her efigy is carved from the cliff wall behind the Imperial palace in Cyra, standing 600 feet tall.
The legend goes that after the wounding of the world, the lands were wracked with calamity and misery and the sea churned for decades while monsters roamed the earth and the waters and storms ravaged the lands. The cove of Chyrako was once the site of a temple library of the Ajfaalim, and it is here that rag tag survivors took shelter, the great cliffs and immense ruins of that place making for them a broken but protected home. As years past, the people were constantly defending themselves from incursions of deadly demons that had been unleashed by the armageddon. Among the survivors were powerful warriors, mages and priests from the bountiful lands of the Dophirus, and with their help they pushed the dark things back into the sea. But months or years later, they would rise anew and the the survivors dwindled. Even when pockets of others found the enclave. They all were stunned by the sudden dissapearence of the benevolent Ajfaalim, who had guided the peoples of the world for time immemorial. All that was left behind was the cache of knowledge in the temple library, and the alters themselves. The people prayed to the Gods of the Ajfaalim, but to no avail. Eventually though, they made contact with another ancient people; The Tritons, or Thallasians. These amphibious warriors revealed that they had been battleing the surge of evil under the waters since the Wounding, and keeping the Chyrakos from the worst of the festering. They had been beaten back however, and were running out of options and allies. The emmissary of the Tritons, whos name was Kymata, but is called the Heart of the Sea, and the Mother of Water, was the sister of the Thallassian Matria. She added her forces to the Chyrakos' just as another wave of malice came. They, stranded, turned to the temple ruins as well. However the Triton people had been peers of the Ajfaalim far longer than the folk of the land, and through their knowledge and certain texts among the wreckage, were able to contact the Deity of the Starfolk. The angel spoke to them, informing them that even the heavens quaked and bled from the wound, and that their connection to the Llios and its people was fading. It could offer no more aid than the planting of a single seed. This was the conception of Sylucia, the Saviour.
Sylucia was born to the emissary, but the attacks upon Chyrako became overhwelming, and was spirited from the cove along with as many survivors as could follow, including a young Vinix Orenmatt who saves as much of the library as he could. The Priests of the Dophirus guarded their escape and fell to the tide of evil, as their once bountiful land had become a hellscape of wind and fire.
The fugitives could not sequester in the sea as the darkness had spread and the homes of the Thallasians and driven them deeper.
The leader of the first Chyrakos people was Goredon Fireshaper who led the peoples along the cost as the Saviour was raised, and many legends are attributed to this time, but the legends continues to say that Sylucia was eventually taken beneath the sea when Goredon and the Mother of Water, and the growing school of Mages under the tutelage of the young Orenmath brought the surviros far enough west to the haven of Tel Agala. Here the Fugitives made their fortress, for 10 years, until the attacks and spreading demons influence brought them to a final stand. It is now that the powers of the Waterlight came to fruition as she manifested a great wave, that swept the armies of chaos from the land and created what is now the Straight of Agamaya . As she grew, so too did her power, and she was tutored by the surviving Arch Thallasians, and when she was 18 she began her recursion against the festering darkness. As Goredon and Orenmath and the last Priest of the Dophirus cults fought over land, Kymata and Sylucia the Waterlight led the Ocean united and drove the demons back and back to the edges of Scar itself.
