Clerical Plague

Symptoms

Painful sores grow over the body and will spread if touched. The sores have yellowish-white heads containing pus and if left untreated for too long, the infected area will degrade into a putrid, thick greenish-grey paste-like substance. Fevers will cause the body's temperature to rise to intolerable levels, often proving fatal, especially for those with weaker constitutions. Pulmonary edema will then manifest with liquid building up in the lungs, leading to respiratory failure. You will struggle to catch your breath and the atmosphere will feel crushing, leading to many suffering anxiety attacks.
After a week, ataxia will cause your motor skills to decline sharply, leading to slurred speech, stumbling, uncontrolled eye movement and difficulty in eating and drinking. Finally, acute inflammation of the brain will cause it to push against the skull, leading to death in the vast majority of cases.

Treatment

Many people have come up with their own ideas of a 'cure'. In most cases, these 'treatments' only lead to the victim dying earlier. Bloodletting is one of the more widespread methods for abating fever, but a copious amount must be shed. The safest method is bathing in icy cold water, though caution must obviously be taken to avoid hypothermia.
