The Meeting (LPA3)
I entered the office waiting room as soon as I heard the call. Professor Callistis was very adamant about me being on my best behaviour for this meeting with the Headmaster.
The Meeting
The room looked, felt and smelled exactly like my old faculty head's office. It was something about the cramped space, yellow lighting, fluffy carpets and the smell of stacks upon stacks of paper that brought me back to my school years. By which I mean three years ago. Damn, has it really been that long since I appeared here?...
"Come in," a muffled voice in my head told me.
"Telepathic communication, huh? I'll have to research that," I mumbled, as I lazily opened the door and stepped inside.
What awaited me on the other side seemed like a dream. A horrible fever dream of colours, lights and rapid, full-power attacks upon all senses. My eyes couldn't focus; my breathing became raspy and uneven, as I was trying to find what to look at to calm myself. The entity didn't want to wait any longer. It spoke.
"Professor Melange."
"Yes?"
"I've been observing your actions as a teacher here at Luna Nova for a while now."
I squinted, getting ready for a detailed summary of all my sins. Harsh judgement had never been my strong suit. Especially judgement from someone so much more powerful than myself.
"You've been doing great."
What?
"You've managed to make this body of yours just as useful as it had once been while Professor Mélange was occupying it."
I jumped with excitement at the thought of doing better than the Witches of old whom I'd read so much about during these years as a teacher.
After a short pause, the Headmaster continued.
"Luna Nova has been getting softer for a while. I want someone to change that."
That seemed like something I'd be perfect for, indeed.
"How should I accomplish that?"
Slowly, as if formulating the plan on the fly, the voice replied.
"Find the most talented students. Give them the witch treatment. Teach them why we are the people we are today, without the absurd lessons of friendship and perseverance that the current professors are giving them today."
The words echoed in my mind for what seemed like forever. Even after I left, my thoughts were only occupied by a stream of consciousness repeating the ideas that were so graciously implanted into my head.
Shouldn't be too hard to get a quick team together especially of the more powerful ones they're still quite inexperienced though I should be careful not to alert the other students to the plans of the headmaster oh oh also speaking of that did she also mean that I have full reign over the new students? Yes yes yes this will be the greatest thing I've done in such a long time now I need to prepare yes the students yes have to be ready by tuesday yes also the alchemy book needs to be reformatted hahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
The cackling of the Marsh Witch could be heard long after she locked herself in her classroom, reverberating throughout the hallways of the Academy, terrifying anyone passing by.
