Grandmaster Blade
The Grandmaster Blade is the highest rank achievable as a member of the The Blades organization.
Qualifications
Any member of The Blades is eligible for earning the rank of Grandmaster Blade, but the efforts and actions that have led to previously earned accolades usually requires a very experienced and talented member.
Requirements
A member must have proven themselves to be resourceful and willing to go above and beyond at the risk of one's own life to protect the civilian population from events or actions that have massive repercussions to life or freedom. This has manifested in previous members as helping to end wars, uncover deadly conspiracies, preventing a war from starting, and saving populations and kingdoms from terrible disasters.
Appointment
The appointment of a Grandmaster Blade is done through a vote by the governing council that funds the existence of The Blades. A majority vote by all members is required to award the title to a prospective candidate. The accolade is usually given in a private ceremony as to not disrupt the duties of the Blade, as his identity may be sensitive for work he has done in the past or will do in the future.
Duties
A Grandmaster's duty is keep the civilian peace and maintain order by dealing with difficult issues that affect the civilian population but aren't considered to be in the purview of the military. They also serve as a shining example to the people and the other members of The Blades.
Responsibilities
Grandmaster Blades are still responsible for helping complete high ranking requests provided by the guild. These requests at this level usually involve bodyguarding for nobility or important civilian personnel, consulting the military on tactics to avoid civilian loss and deep cover espionage.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Removal of a Grandmaster is incredibly rare and to this day still an unseen circumstance. However, cases that may lead to a Grandmaster being stripped of his rank and possible his membership in the Blades and freedom are extreme cases.
Events that may lead to removal/dismissal:
- Treason against the guild or a nation
- Purposeful harm to another person without provocation
- Purposeful harm to a civilian population
History
The title was first awarded to, Demarus Alexander, a Senior Blade at the time. He facilitated the safe passage of all the kingdoms' leaders to a neutral ground to meet for the peace talks that lead to the Great Hope Treaty. The negotiations were tense and full of danger and he also uncovered an assassination attempt at the meeting. In recognition of Demarus achievements, the governing council felt a special title was needed for to award the efforts, bravery, and skill shown by him.
