Aether-Tech
The Lost Technology of the Precursors
This ancient technology was invented by the precursors, the Qeldin. It uses the energy stored within the Aether and pulled from crystals, the ground, or the air itself, to enhance and sometimes power devices designed with highly advanced mechanical systems. These devices could replicate the effect produced by modern-day Arcanists and allowed those without the ability to tap into the Aether to do the same. The Qeldin had advanced Aether-tech to be able to perform nearly any task necessary, created vast transportation systems, gigantic mechanical machines for various forms and functions, highly advanced medical treatments and cures, and cities in such scope they make the current largest cities of today seem like villages. Aether-tech is also sometimes referred to as Arcano technology or Arcanotech.
Utility
Aether-tech today is in its infancy and small breakthroughs have been through reverse engineering and study. Glowglobes was one of the first items reinvented and have replaced most public light sources in towns and cities. Due to their current cost, only the wealthy are able to own them for personal use. The discovery of Aether-tech also led engineers, tinkers, and artificers to the use of steam and heat to power machines. This became known as Steamgear and has seen application in the automation of more laborious jobs like milling, lumberjacking, forges. Transportation uses for Steamgear is been steadily advancing and the first prototypes can be seen driving around Freehold.
Manufacturing
All Aether-tech currently is manufactured in private factories either owned by the government or a rich guild, both of which are attempting find more uses and understand the ancient artifacts they uncovered.
Access & Availability
Currently, Aether-tech in its full knowledge is unavailable. The first rediscovery of remnants of Aether-tech was found after the disaster of The Night of Destruction. The destruction exposed ancient ruins above and below ground of which only a few have been found at this point. Ruins that have been discovered are heavily guarded as each country attempts to reverse engineer the tech.
Complexity
Highly advanced and complex system that combines Aether, with advanced technology yet to fully understood.
Discovery
This Precursor technology was developed over twenty-thousand years ago. The ancient society that had invented Aether-Tech was bounded on a culture of pure logic and the search for perfection. The technology was lost to the world during The Cataclysm.
