Prytor Na'be Character in Life Under Four Suns | World Anvil

Prytor Na'be

Prytor Intr'ka Kaa Na'be

I am nothing if not exacting in my piety, Keaya. You would not understand my loyalties, my devotion to honoring Granthro. Even as children, you cared more about how an action would benefit you.
A Kaenuan Prytor within the Assembly of Fire. Na'be was born to Relic Eel merchants, a profession which brought the young Kaenuan in contact with hundreds of different people from across the system. While the family was trading on Tarun, Na'be met and was fascinated by Prytor Ur'ra Piv, whose sermons gathered crowds of hundreds.

Assembled Compliance

Under his mentor Prytor Piv, Na'be became a great orator and spent much time delving into the Words of the Great Flame, the holy book of the Assembly of Fire. Within it's hallow pages, Na'be found solace from the worlds outside, believing that to fail in even one area of the Assembly's tenats was to fail Granthor entirely. By the time he became a Fire Priest in his late fifties, Na'be had already set in motion a change to the religion. Over his tenure, fire rained upon colonies and villages that he deemed as sinful.   Under his doctrine, Na'be rose through the ranks, drawing crowds of thousands to his sermons as he preached of fire and brimstone to come to those who did not turn from their evil ways. A key element in this was his implementation of an ancient Kaenuan tradition of the Calit or to pay for ones crimes. Paying ones Calit erased the need for other punishment, whether from those one wronged or the government and associated judiciary. By reviving the Calit, Na'be was able to ensure that funds became widespread for the Assembly, and he was able to find reason to slow his burned earth policy against the unrighteous.

He doesn't sound like a very nice man, but he definitely seems to have brought change to his religion!
