Marcus Warden

Marcus Warden

Marcus also loves to talk about his career in archaeology, and usually refuses to talk much about his years as a Hero. Despite the vilification of Heroes, he still holds a moral compass, which puts him in the ire of many Villains.   When times get rough, he has a nasty trick up his sleeve. Quite literally.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Marcus used to have a very toned, muscular body. This has faded away with age, but it is still there. It is usually covered up with his clothing.

Special abilities

Marcus is fairly skilled at cryomancy. He can summon and throw shards of ice, build temporary walls of it infront of him, and decrease the temperature of the air around him, for example. His skill is not as high as most other cryomancers, but that is of little concern to him. Marcus can trace the large symbol on his vambrace to switch places with a large, hulking, rocky creature. Named Goliath, this creature doesn't have the brains or icy powers that Marcus has, but has a highly durable body and a knack for punching things. The swap has a cooldown of 5 minutes.

Apparel & Accessories

Marcus usually wears long sleeved shirts, and long pants. This is mostly for preference, but he wears long sleeves to cover up the vambrace on his arm.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Marcus was born into a fairly well off family, and his life wasn't really that noteworthy until he went off to college. He caught evidence of an ancient human civilization in Antarctica, and after getting the OK from Marshall College, he set out to uncover something from this civilization. Deep within the icy continent, Marcus discovered two things. The first one was the ability to manipulate ice and coldness, and the second one was a set of ancient ruins about 50 miles inland. Buried deep within the rocky ruins was a tarnished brass vambrace, and a large rocky behemoth that had laid dormant for centuries. He dubbed this thing "Goliath", and the rock creature happily took the name. The two would become best friends. After returning to the college, a group of vigilantes convinced him to use his newly found powers to do good. One of them, a charismatic master in hypnotism and speech, essentially forced Marcus to join. And he fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. It took Marcus a prison sentence and a forced removal from the College to realize that he had been swindled. In an act of revenge, he travelled to the vigilantes' hideout and killed every single one of them. It required a lot of effort from him and his companion, but it was eventually done. A three year legal battle ensued between his lawyer and the vigilantes' relatives, with him being seen as not guilty of murder. With this trial, he still had to hide, for a lot of loose ends were left untied. Somewhere during all of this he grew into a state of severe depression. With his passion in shambles, and his bitterness towards heroism, it was hard to get out of. He did, eventually, but it wasn't easy. He SEVERELY dislikes the fact that heroism is now legal, believing to have been treated unfairly.

Gender Identity

Marcus is male.

Sexuality

Marcus is straight, but he has never been married.

Education

Marcus went to Marshall College and majored in Archaeology. This, combined with his age, has made him a very intelligent person.

Employment

Marcus used to be an archaeologist before becoming a hero. He has since retired, and is working as a taxi driver. Not much, but it's honest work.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Marcus's biggest accomplishment was finding the ancient Antarctican civilization. And Goliath.

Failures & Embarrassments

In all of his wisdom, Marcus couldn't see that the old Heroes were merely using him, ruining his career and passion in the process.

Mental Trauma

Marcus used to have severe depression. He doesn't anymore, but talking about heroes bums him out.

Intellectual Characteristics

Marcus is very adept at archaeological problem solving, only fairly adept in other types of problem solving.

Morality & Philosophy

Marcus is still caring and kind, willing to help people when he can. Paradoxically, he does not like considering himself a Hero, and doesn't like it when other people do that. He believes that Heroes are pompous, pretentious, and just as capable of evil as a typical Villain.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Marcus wants to keep him and Goliath safe, as well as helping others. He also one day wants to get back into Archaeology, but this is not as likely to happen.

Hygiene

Marcus keeps himself clean, just like a normal person.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Marcus no longer has any relations or contacts, outside of his dwindling family and Goliath.

Family Ties

Marcus has two brothers and two sisters, who have all grown large families of their own without him. He doesn't talk much at all with them. Not anymore.

Religious Views

Marcus is agnostic. There could be a god, but there might not be. It's no concern for him.

Mannerisms

Marcus remains formal and professional after his years on the job.

Hobbies & Pets

Goliath is Marcus's pet, technically? Marcus loves archaeology, board games, puzzles, and teaching Goliath about stuff.

Speech

Marcus remains fairly neutral in his tone of voice, until he knows more about a person. If the person he's talking to is a hero or villain and he knows it, his attitude will change into one more sarcastic and negative.

Wealth & Financial state

Marcus accrued enough wealth before his retirement, and lives in a fairly decent house in the Residential District.

Marcus Walker is a smart guy, and can be calm and calculated. He has dealt with many insufferable people over the years, and as such, he either gets along with people really easily, or absolutely loathes people.
