Vargouille's Kiss

The exact nature of this effect is unknown, whether a disease, curse, or other.

Transmission & Vectors

"Kiss" administered by a winged, flying skull encountered by the Ravenhand Pirates.

Symptoms

The patient's hair will turn gray, then white as the body begins to shrink and wither. The hair will then fall out.

Treatment

Being in sunlight eases the discomfort and halts and delays, but not reverses, the progression of the ailment.
No cure known, although the hag Sephira "Crab Sucker" Salthook claims to be able to cure this.

Prognosis

Death, either during the withering and shriveling of their body or what comes after. Once all their hair has fallen out, the skin will shrink and be stretched taught across the bones. If the patient is still alive at this point, the skin on the head rips open and the skull flies free of the body, detaching from the spine and wings forming from the head's skin.
The rate at which which this happens varies from patient to patient, some going start to finish in only several hours, others taking over a day.
