Desiti

Desiti is a hot, rocky desert planet in the New Colonies region. Before the formation of the New Colonies, it was an uninhabitable, toxic world with a runaway greenhouse effect, with temperatures in excess of 400°C. It was a considered a prime target to demonstrate an innovative terraforming technology. It promised to terraform even the most inhospitable planets habitable in a few decades, rather than centuries. After 15 years, results were promising, the planet's atmosphere had been converted to a standard nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, the poles were a hot but tolerable 30-40°C and the surface had begun to accumulate water. Unfortunately, the project was hastily abandoned during the events of the Vitril Invasion. Though it was largely left untouched, the project struggled to regain momentum. Investors pulled their money from the project to move into rebuilding efforts back home, leaving the terraforming project dead in the water. Now the planet is controlled by various Garluta cartels and warlords, and has become the home of refugees and the displaced.
