Thundery Mountains

Geography

The Tundery Mountains are a huge mountain range in the centre of Levania. They form the south-western border of the Gowana Desert. On the other side are the plains of Galandur. In the south, they reach as far as the coast of the Southern Ocean, while their foothills extend far into the north. In the south-eastern part is the dwarven city of Khel Bolir. They are the largest mountain range in Levania.
They are characterised by a unique weather phenomenon. On their eastern side there is icy cold, while on their western side the wind carries hot air into the mountains. As a result, there are almost constant strong storms and thunderstorms in the mountains. These storms are sandstorms on the west side and snowstorms on the east side. These weather conditions make it almost impossible to pass through the mountains.
If you want to get to the other side of the mountain, the safest way is to go around it. However, this involves a long journey. Another way, but also a dangerous one, is the Hero's Pass . This is the only known way to cross the Thundery Mountains.
Some people claim to know ways through abandoned tunnels or dwarven mines to get to the other side. Whether you want to take this risk is something you have to decide for yourself. All that can be said with certainty is that the dwarves of Khel Bolir know safe routes through the mountains. However, this knowledge is not passed on to outsiders.

Localized Phenomena

Hot air from the desert and cold air from the other side of the mountain collide and cause violent storms and even thunderstorms.

Fauna & Flora

Not many creatures can survive in the inhospitable environment of the Thundery Mountains. On the cold side of the mountains, animals such as snow hares and eagles live below the snowline. Above the snowline, a few frost dragons have built their lairs. On the hot side of the mountains there are even fewer animals, only small reptiles and scorpions.
Auf der Ostseite der Berge dominieren Tannenbäume und kleine, kälteresistente Beerenbüsche. Auf der Westseite stehen nur noch vereinzelt abgestorbene Bäume und in den tieferen Regionen Kakteen.
