The Lightstruck isles

Summary

At the dawn of the world when The 9 Serpents created land a meteorite hit one of the isles north of Uwastan. Being the first dragons, the 9 Serpents weren't powerful enough to send the meteor back to the universe. They decided to bury it instead.   Aproximately 188 years later a woman with her son were passing the middle the forest. Out of nowhere the ground shook and then shook again. Thinking it was nothing the two continued walking. Witnesses say that after that the groud growled, opened and a ball of light emerged from it. It's rays covering all three of the islands shone brighter than anything they've ever seen. The say the orb ate the poor woman and her son without a trace, never to be spotted again.   The people of Uwastan think they were being punished by Nomio (earth serpent), for the sins they comitted agains dragons and riders. After the disturbing events the people of the isles moved out never to come back again. The word spread across the whole Lespent. To this day the Lightstruck isles are feared by everyone and no one dares to come close to them let alone touch them.

Historical Basis

There is no real evidence of the meteorite hitting the isles other than what The 9 Serpents told people. No one ever questioned the truthfullness of their words. They are to be trusted.

The light emerging from the isles had thousands if not more witness from all of the surrounding lands and isles. The is no doubt this event occured.

Spread

In a span of about 6 months the myth spread all over the planet, making people avoid the once beautiful isles. (spread: spoken form)

Variations & Mutation

One variotion of the myth speaks about "The haunted isles of Uwastan". It revolves around magical creatures called nanazenel able to radiate light from their bodies. They are though to be angry at the poeple for destroing the beautiful nature of the isles. According to the myth they decided to expel them from the isles and let them come back only when they'll show that they've changed.   This variation originated on a neighboring island of the Kochazatsi kingodom. The riders believe it's not the dragons who are mad, but the fauna of the isles.
