The Re-Campening: A 2022 Summer Camp Pledge

Ooooh, look at all the shiny things that have absolutely nothing to do with the novels I have planned but I'm definitely about to devote energy to developing!
— me, having no self discipline

The Dawn of Summer Camp Prep (Week 1)

Leland began as simply a backdrop for a few novel ideas that needed a world to call home, but has since taken on a life of its own. It started with Summer Camp 2021, my first foray into Summer Camp, where I ended up completely deviating from from my area of focus to develop some articles that have actually been incorporated into future novels despite originally having no ties to anything. What does this year hold? I'm eager to find out!
Creative Goal
East Leland is very empty because most of my novels and short stories take place west of the Aici and Eldown Rivers. I aim to change that.
Motivation
I'm just eager to get in there and see what my world has to offer. If I can create something in a less developed area, then there's probably new stories there worth telling.
Challenge Goal
Going for gold, but I'm keeping an eye on that diamond badge!
I'm also looking to do 15K words across all articles for Camp NaNo.

Looking ahead to the themes of Summer Camp 2022, I can definitely vibe with them.
Expanse
There are plenty of grasslands in eastern Leland as well as urban sprawl in Deamei, but the oceans stretch on endlessly.
Leadership
Tribal leadership, queendom leadership, confederate leadership, province leadership, settlement leadership. . .so much leadership to be developed, so little time!
discovery
by N.
Discovery
I feel the sense of discovery in technology and techniques related to the enmantic arts, which I'm always eager to further explore, but there's also the Forgotten Isle.
Monstrous
Leland may not be a world of fantastic creatures and slayable monsters, but there are plenty of opportunities to create historical monstrosities in Leland

What's a Party Without a Theme? (Week 2)

Apparently I did extra credit last week since I already mentioned a little bit about how I could work with the Summer Camp themes this year! So instead of just copying and pasting and calling it a day (as that hardly seem in the spirit of Summer Camp), I'd like to take a closer look at how the themes could be used.

Expanse

There has been no known contact with anyone outside of Leland in over a millennia, so I would say the largest expanse in this world would be the area surrounding the peninsula. The Wasteland was explored last year, which connects the northern part of the peninsula to the supposed "mainland", but the surrounding oceans are still in question. What is preventing contact? Has it always been that way? Or was it somehow another unexpected consequence of The Great Invasion?

Leadership

There is so much opportunity to explore this theme in modern-day Leland given that I've yet to set up the government for the Leland Confederacy or any of the governments for the provinces.   In terms of non-governmental leadership, I'd like to focus on the Indorai religion. In a previous challenge the Sisterhood of the Chaotic Mother came into being, but there are two other sects of the religion to be written out and how these sects interact with the political sphere of Irocra.

Discovery

This is the theme that I'm most excited to sink my teeth into. One of my favorite things about creating this world is discovering new ways for the different enmanities to affect daily life. With the likes of Power of Geonature and Power of Composition these can have obvious physical applications, but I'm eager to see what else comes to light with the non-physical enmanities, like how Yunography came into existence in the medical field last Summer Camp.

Monstrous

The only monsters in Leland are the ones in children's stories and a handful of truly awful historical figures. The violent periods around the time of The Great Invasion and leading up to the fall of the Queendom of Leland are ripe for potentially monstrous acts. In the modern era, one could argue that those involved in the terrible events of Abbelithe Olevera's childhood could also be considered monsters. It's sometimes difficult not to demonize the entirety of Irocra because of a few politically motivated individuals.
