Viridian Salt
Properties
Material Characteristics
Viridian salt is most commonly found in the form of a soft greenish rock. These rocks can be ground up into crystals fairly easily, and the salt is commonly sold in this crushed form.
Physical & Chemical Properties
When put under intense pressure, the viridian salt will crystalize into a translucent green glass-like form known as viridian glass. This substance does not have the flammable properties of its salt form. There is no known way to undo this transformation, and viridian glass is considered useless except for decorative purposes.
Geology & Geography
The mineral is found in underground deposits fairly near the surface.
The largest viridian salt mine in the Jirithkaen Empire is located near the town of Leaves-Amid-Glass. Large crystals of viridian glass have formed across the jungle region, giving the town its name. Scientists theorize that a large natural disaster occurred thousands of years ago that unearthed the top layer of the salt deposit and crystalized it.
History & Usage
Everyday use
Viridian salt is used as a material in explosive weapons manufacturing or as an expensive but highly compact alternative to diesel power.
Some people also use viridian glass as a decorative material in jewelry or art. The substance loses all of its volatile properties it its glass form, so it is safe to use.

Distribution
Trade & Market
The Saltworks Company is the largest viridian salt mining and refinery company in Jirithkae. The mineral is primarily marketed as an explosive for weapons manufacturing. Viridian salt compounds are also used as a highly compact and efficient fuel source, although it isn't as widespread as diesel fuel.
