Floodhaich

The great capital of Gaisgaich, a multi-layered city made out of rings of population.

Demographics

A human-only city, where nobles are packed around the castle and inside the fortifications. The further away from the walls, the poorer the populations and the dirtier the streets.

Government

The city fonction mostly on artisans, and they are the ones who pay the most taxes because of the many taxes on transformation, purchase and transportation of good. This creates a lot of concurence, as the city desperatly needs the artisans, yet they make almost no money from their craft. To survive, they take many loans, and end up tied to the city because of them.

Defences

The only "visible" defence is the great wall surrounding the heart of the city, but in reality it's most important defence are the Floodhaich and Losgadh casern. Thos two military points are placed respectively East and West of the city. They ensure it's defences more than any wall could ever.

Industry & Trade

As mentionned before, craftsmanship is the most important profession in the city. The goods are either transported from the land by cart and trucks, but some of Vendhora's luxuries are transported on the Losgadh sea.

Infrastructure

The great church of Floodhaich and the royal castle are the most impressive creations, other than the fortifications of the "noble" city. The wall is lunged by a man-dug canal providing the city with the water from the Losgadh sea, meaning that the only way to reach the 4 entrys to the intra-muros city is to cross one of the bridges.

Guilds and Factions

Guilds are a great part of the life in Gaisgaich, and we can clearely see that in it's capital. Almost ever proffesion in the country has a guild, most of the time linked to one of the dietys of the Merere pantheon. Scholars, craftsman and singers, they all have guilds that assemble and reunite to work together on their shared jobs.

History

At first, the caste and wall were build years ago in a military ideal: Immense building and strong stone could better defend important people. Conflicts made so that the Kings of old picked this place as their main residence and later made Floodhaich to become what it is today: A powerfull capital. The great church was built were there used to be the Floodhaich casern, before it was migrated out of the city.

Architecture

Roman meeths gothic in an eerie way, with hints of a tudor like architecture: Strong stone base on a third of the first floor's wall, and the rest made out of great wood. Classic A shaped roofs cover the ceiling. Richer houses can tower up to 3 or 4 stories, with painted and decorated glass as their windows.
