Legacy

A world born in magic, where powerful forces run wild and magical creatures roam the wilderness. In ages past, humans carved out a niche for themselves using their intellect, mastering the arcane and the scientific together to stand alongside older, stronger, more inherently magical creatures.   Now, Humanity is gone, vanished in a single instant in the distant past. In their place rose dozens of new species combining the traits of humans and animals, newborn species that had to restart civilization from the ground up.   Now, these new peoples strive to reclaim the knowledge and power lost when their predecessors vanished. With the aid of the dragons, formerly allies of the humans, the new species have begun to assert themselves. They currently live in a number of city-states, zones of influence where normally unpredictable magical energies are tamed and bent toward fuelling their nascent civilization.
