Orphanage of Angeleor
The Orphanage of Angeleor is located near the north gate of the city in the shadow of the city wall. The North City of Angeleor is known to be the poorer, less respectable part of Angeleor, and the area around the Orphanage is one of the poorest areas of the entire city. It is led by an unfriendly old woman, who is amongst the children just known as the Old One.
Purpose / Function
This Orphanage is, as one would expect, a place where parentless children of the lower classes are taken care of. Usually, between ten and fifteen children live here.
Alterations
On the outside, the house hasn't changed much, but when it was transformed into an orphanage, the inside was remodeled to better accommodate the new purpose. For example, the attic was modulated to serve as a dorm room for the children.
Architecture
It is a simple half-timbered town house nestled against the city walls. It consists of a single floor and an attic, which is used as a sleeping area for the children.
Defenses
The building itself does not have any special defences by itself, but it is somewhat protected by the city wall, which it stands right next to.
History
It is not clear anymore when the building became an Orphanage. According to public memory, it used to belong to a family, but at one point, it was sold to a childless widow and from that moment on was used as an Orphanage, but records of this do not exist anymore.
Tourism
Roughly once a year, the King of Angeleor comes by to pick a few children to take to the castle and train to become soldiers. Normally only boys are chosen, but on rare occasions girls are chosen too.
