Republic of Gloridia
After the Exodus, the dwergachtig (“dvair/GACH/tig” — pious gnomes) quickly began the process of collating a body of laws for the zharrgrund (“JAR/grund” — dwarves) and gnomes to cohabitate peacefully with (under) their benevolent hosts, the ezust sarkany (“eh/ZUST SAR/kan/nee” — silver dragons).
During these initial years as the Republic was being built, many of the combat-minded zharrgrund found themselves without much to fight — there were very few natural threats in the mountains the silver dragons called home. So the next generations took more to building and it wasn’t many hundreds of years before the first Gloridian cities had risen up from bare stone.
Today, the mountainous area of the Republic of Gloridia hosts eight cities with its capital, Zhlaginova, centrally located. Many more towns and villages dot the mountains of the area.
The major threats to Gloridia come from the north: rez draaks (copper draconians) working for their feher sarkany (white dragon) masters, and their eszaki ember (northern humans) serfs; the north east: jegorians (frost giants and the east: minotaurusz (minotaurs). This said, it is not
often that invaders attempt to traverse the difficult passes to reach the republic.
As Gloridia’s borders grew, there became a need for a regimented army. The ezust sarkany scholars were called upon to present records of the zharrgrund army of old, the Atmar, and within a generation, the Republic army was under formation.
The Atmar now act not only as an army,
but also take up the charge of patrolling the towns and cities as a police force. As was the case with the Atmar of old, the Republic has formed a Senate which dictates what actions the army may take. This time around, however, the Senate has seats occupied by major dwergachtig figures — seats are more earned rather than controlled by financially-powerful families as was the case in the old zharrgrund republic of yor. (Or that’s what the leaders would have the populace believe, anyways.)
