Character Creation
Last Chronicle Character Creation Rules:
This campaign will be using Last Chronicle character creation, equipment, and playable races with the following amendments:
Amanta
All characters created in Layblis are born with an amanta. Amanta manifests in every sentient being in this world and represents a primary temptation that they carry with them throughout their lives manifested into energy. A temptation in this regard is an urge of some sort that a character is constantly faced with and trying to control. Each creature is born with varying affinities towards amanta and individuals able to grow closer to their amanta without being consumed by it are able to manifest it as magical, divine, or martial prowess.
Creatures that overuse this power or experience an event that leads them to lose control over their amanta will fall into temptation. This would typically result in losing themselves in a desire to satisfy said temptation.
Branding
When a creature becomes consumed by their amanta, it is possible to return them to normal by energy drain. This includes ability drain, and inflicting negative levels. Individuals who have lost themselves to their amanta before will typically develop some sort of physical feature that remains from their transformation. This can range from tattoos, to the growth of an extra limb. These brands are easily identifiable by specific markings or aura’s they emit upon examination. Branded are seen as untrustworthy and prone to falling into temptation again in the eyes of society and as such are likely to be denied services and discriminated against.
Leveling
Characters will level from 1-8 using normal Pathfinder leveling rules. After level 8, characters will no longer gain levels and instead a bonus feat each time they would have gained a level Levels represent an individual’s ability to use their amanta without being consumed by it.
Planar Creatures
Planar outsiders do not exist in Layblis, however casters may manifest beings based on mythology with the same stat blocks and abilities as these planar outsiders using their amanta.
Races
Although planar outsiders do not exist, it is possible to play races listed as partial-outsiders at the GM’s discretion. Outsider-like features can be manifested as features of a character’s primary temptation.
Trait: Amanta Affinity : You gain a +1 bonus on checks related to resisting your own amanta.
Resurrection
Resurrection exists in Layblis through the payment of an associated fee at a specified resurrection site.
Hero Points
The use of hero points in Layblis represents not only overcoming mortal limitations, but forcing yourself closer to your amanta to draw more power from it. Using a hero point will leave a character staggered for one turn after usage as they take time to recollect themselves. Using three hero points over the course of one day will cause them to give into their amanta.
