The Royal Quill

The queen does not leave the inner palace, but as an absolute monarq, it's very involved in politics. As there are a large number of documents, that need to be review on a daily basis and briinging them to the inner palace, was very inefficient and slow any actions to be taken down. She comision a device, that would allow her to sign those documents herself, without leaving his inner palace. This devide received the name of The Royal Quill.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Even when the whole invention is called The Royal Quill, it's not a quill. It a complex piece of numenera composed of two different elements:
  • The base: This is the most important part of the whole. it's comprised of two decorated layers of synt metal, with a datashpere connection. It handles the reception and display of the document to be signed and transmit the signature to the actual paper, sitting on it in the other end. When a document need to be review and sign by the Queen, a functionary will put it on the remote base on its possesion. The base on Queen end, will reproduce a holographic version, for her to review.
  • The Quill: You can't write regular words on regular paper with this quill, as it does not contain any pigment. it's shape is correct, but in the place where the pigmet usually go, a small blue electrical current sits. this current interact with the base allowing it to write on it. Any writing on the base will be tranfered to the document in the other end.

Significance

The creation of The Quill, speed up considerably burocracy in Charmonde. Before The Quill was invented, any document which require royal signature, needed to go thougth the laborious process of entering the . As a side effect, after spreading the table to other cities, it has also speed up the burocracy of the whole country, as document no longer need to travel to Charmonde to be signed up.

But there is only the one Quill, in posesion of Queen Armalu. She has banned this technology to be reproduced by anyone.

I wonder how effective Queen Armalu's ban on this technology is in the world? This article also makes me wonder why she does not leave the royal palace! I also love that you're building a world with the Numenera system. Numenera has a special place in my heart, nice to see some WA folk building creative things around it.
