Deep dwarves

Is this sunlight? It is worse than a cave in.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Deep dwarves speak a very rough form of Undercommon, a variation of Common, with various words borrowed from Deep Speech that have been shared while trading with Duergar.

Because the deep dwarves live so far away from the surface their language is often several decades behind, which can make it hard for surface dwellers to understand, even if they do speak Underkommon.

Shared customary codes and values

Due to the ever changing shape of the underdark deep dwarves live a semi-nomadic life. This has forced an increased value in exploration and family, as well as an understanding that teamwork is the only way to survive for long times in the caves.

Common Dress code

Due to the low-light conditions that they live in the colour of clothing has taken a back seat to how the clothing is cut and how practical it is.

Normal clothing is a combination of shoes, long trousers long-sleeved shirts and gloves. Each item thick and close cut enough to resist the dust and sharp corners that are all over the place. Helmets are often used as well.

Major organizations

Morrak

Mostly situated in the south, Morrak has specialized in using Stone rot to shape tunnels and caverns.

Orrelik

Orrelik can be found towards the north-west, mining ore and refining it using the heat from lava that comes from the volcanoes there. This is then sold to various people higher up, and sometimes even to surface dwellers directly.

Gakorr

Using their mineral knowledge, the clan Gakorr has specialised in studying the landskape of the underdark in order to understand it, and more importantly, in order to more precicely predict how it is going to behave.
