Explorer's Guide to Dietmar

Welcome, dear traveler, to this installment in the Explorer's Guide series. In this book, I aim to provide you with the little information there is available on the recently discovered Minor Continent. What you then do with the information is up to you.

Like I said, there is very little information about Dietmar to go around. The only race to have settled on the continent are the Giants (in secret no less), and they have not done much exploring themselves.

Gnorwegian satellite imagery has shown the world that Dietmar is divided into two sections. At the very North of the continent is a swamp which takes up at most about 1/6 of the total area of Dietmar, and the rest is jungle. The Giants who have settled here have only done so at the Southern tip, not caring to settle across the mountains to their North. Generally speaking, the continent is a mystery.

Since there is little else to talk about, I suppose I'll simply have to tell you about the Giant settlements and their stories about their experiences on Dietmar.

The Giants' settlements are new, and resemble the small villages (and rarely towns) one might encounter when wandering the savannahs of Keskas or remote areas of Sappor. An explorer visiting such a settlement might have a hard time finding a place to sleep at night because of the lack of local inns, so bring a tent! If making camp near a settlement, you'll likely be fine; the Giants have more or less cleared any hostile wildlife out of the areas they've claimed. If one Giant is so kind as to allow you to sleep in their house - even better. Supplies should be easy enough to come by. You know how the Giants keep massive beasts for food, and other basic necessities can likely be found at a shop in a port town.

When asked about the continent, the Giants tend to stay quiet. They'll say that it's just about like any other jungle; snakes, spiders, the usual creepy crawlies you'd encounter. But some, when pressed for more, have admitted to occasionally hearing distant roars and trees crashing. So far, there has been no indication of what might be causing these occurrences, and the Giants don't seem to care to find out.

Because little is known about Dietmar, scholars worldwide are eager to learn more about it. an adventurer looking for work will find it here, either protecting researchers who wish to venture across the land, or by exploring it themselves and cataloguing their findings. This can be an exciting proposition for some - in a world you've never known, who knows what you'll find!

Honestly, and I'm sorry to say this, but that's about all I can tell you. If you do decide to sail out to here, I would highly recommend being cautious. Like I said; who knows what you'll find? Anyway, good luck adventurers, and safe travels!
