Bear Keep
This is the home of Ivan Thurisaz, Adaon of Datova,
, Evelyn of Bakkusa, Henna, Talia Cavebear, Dathania Cavebear, and Kiera Ivansdottir Thurisaz .
Bear Keep was originally named "Griffon's Reach" as it was the home of a baron-knight who raised and kept griffons for use in the royal military. However, during the Valkran Civil War the place was attacked and most of the people were killed, the castle badly damaged, and all of the griffons killed or driven off. After the war the barony was awarded to the heroes for their part in assisting Queen Althea Sigrunsdottir var Valkra né Draconis in her efforts to win her kingdom. The heroes chose to have Ivan become the baron, and for each of the others to retain the titles of Lord or Lady, as appropriate, for their part.
The barony has a nearby village, which was once a town, but was devasted in the war. There are two other towns in the barony, Altstead, a trading centre, and Grunfjeld, a farming town. Each is walled and under the protection of a knight who answers to the Baron of Bear Keep.
There are also twelve other knights who have castles within the barony and answer to Baron Ivan.
Lord Adaon brought his sister, Gwenyth of Datova, to learn to run the keep and as as its castelan, because she is already very good at organization and he felt that she would be ideally suited to this role. Everyone was, of course, relieved to realise that this role could be delegated.
