Haven's Wrath

This is a massive volcano that has caused the island, once known as The Haven, to become barren and inhospitable. The volcano is believed to be a curse on the locals after their blatant disrespect of the Gods. It is now all but abandoned, yet keeps the name "The Haven" as cruel irony.

Geography

There is a very large active volcano in the middle of the island, the land is littered with obsidian, and magma is common to find. It is very rocky, and caves are tunneled throughout. The jagged land is inhospitable for all but the most determined. Sinkholes, falling boulders, and rivers of lava lace the landscape.

Ecosystem

Despite being surrounded by water, there is very little flora and fauna. The rich soils are sought after, yet don't spring any life on the island. Once used in other locations however, the plants flourish and anything that grows in it is very rich and beautiful.

Ecosystem Cycles

Most of this volcanic island is unaffected by the season changes. The main differences were the migratory patterns of the birds and water dwelling creatures. The water dwelling creatures tend to move to warmer climates within The Circle. Birds go inland for more stable (and safer) dwellings and food supply.

Localized Phenomena

There is constant smoke coming from the summit of the volcano, as well as overcast clouds. Storms come and go quickly without any predictability. Nobody knows what the true cause behind this is. Eruptions happen frequently, yet it constantly confuses the experts due to the lack of cause/pressure. Despite the lava and magma in the land, the water remains a frigid cold. Although there is no scientific or magical cause that can be found for ant of ir, many chalk this up to the "curse" on the land.

Fauna & Flora

Despite being surrounded by water, there is very little flora and fauna. The rich soils are sought after, yet doesn't spring any life. The majority of the fauna are scavengers and animals that can either fly or swim. Most of the surviving fauna have fire/heat resistances. Without it, they would shrivel up, burn, melt, or all of the above.

Most or the resources are the soil, precious stones/minerals, and the constant flowing magma.

History

The once flourishing, mountainous island turned into a living hell. In 6 The dormant volcano erupted, killing almost all of the residents on the island. Very few managed to escape, and none escaped unscathed. Now, people believe the island is cursed. It is claimed that the souls of those who have died are now trapped on the island. Many of the strange happenings are attributed to this curse.
