Personal history

When Miyako and Kou were born, their mother, horrified, thrust Kou into the midwife's arms and told her to dispose of the demon child without anyone knowing. The midwife took pity, and managed to keep Kou hidden until he was about 6 or 7. When he is discovered, Kazuha keeps everything quiet by having the midwife killed, Kou's wings torn off, and the cursed boy thrown into the forest to die (it is seen as bad luck to kill a cursed thing with your own hands).
