Les Oubliés

The Forgotten Ones

An english version is available at the end of the article. Click here

  English version
« Forgotten is the one who fled Aâr during the bloody appeal.
Forgotten is the one who fought the advance of the Immaculât.
Forgotten is the one who has resisted relentlessly for years.
Forgotten is the one who fell before their barbarity.
Forgotten is the one who is hunted by their shadows.
Forgotten is the one who still today dares to oppose.
Forgotten is the one who is chained and cannot rebel.
Forgotten is the one who has no homeland, dispossessed.
Forgotten is the one who is wrongly hated.
Forgotten is the one who is born into oblivion, because he shall die in oblivion. »

Many believe that humans and sygorgnaars were the only victims or are the only ones targeted by the Immaculât in their "purification" campaigns. There are, however, other victims, from the immaculates themselves, who call themselves the Forgotten. Hunted and killed by their fellow men and hated and hunted by all the others.   The vast majority of the forgotten descend from the immaculates who opposed Aerlein, some having fled Aâr during the appeal, and others long after during the expansion of the former republic. Others descended from the immaculate people who lived in the human cities of East Nelmûnd at the time, were increasingly stigmatised and had to flee to avoid being massacred in pogroms. The forgotten are the only immaculate people who have never known the fanaticism of the Immaculate. An immaculate who rebels against the regime or flees from it is still considered forgotten.   The forgotten are constantly hunted down by the Ascendant Order who see in them a danger for the whole regime. So they chose to live in the shadows, in hidden cities in the mountains or even underground cities to believe some legends, however we have so far found no trace. The few forgotten that we can still meet today wander through the cities, hiding their identities as best they can while making a living committing small crimes.

Thank you ! I'll try to make or to get fancier buttons and make variables to change the colors for each category.   The Forgotten ones article will be improved later when I'll get more ideas on them !

Neat! (And thank you for the English translation). I like that there's variety of opinions in the Immaculate, and the consequences of that

Thank you again ! All the Immaculates are seen as monsters but reality isn't that easy, so I wanted to write it down :3   Is the translation good ?

8 Jul, 2018 10:48

It's understandable, but clearly a translation - there's a lot of words missing or phrases worded awkwardly, if that makes sense. Like, the last line, "hiding their identity at best while living small crimes" is not how it'd usually be worded. From what's there, I'd say either "hiding their identities as best they can while making a living committing small crimes," or "at best hiding their identities while making a living committing small crimes," depending on whether you want to say "they're trying to do this" or "this is the best they've got" (note I do not speak French, so I'm not sure which lines up better with original)

Very nice theme that plays well with how the article is portrayed with translation, almost as if reading it strait from a book.

Thank you ! I'll keep trying to improve it dome more ;)
