The Republic of Brass

Originally referred to simply as 'The Republic', this nation forged itself from two continents and the large islands stretched in between, becoming the largest human nation in recent memory. The Brass Emperor rose to power three centuries ago following a civil war, and seems poised to ascend to godhood, making him not only the longest lived human in history but also the first to come so close to divinity. The Republic's legions continue to expand the emperor's reach, finding few able to resist them.

Structure

The Emperor serves as the head of the military and executive branch of the government. A Senate creates laws and is elected from noble families; the Tribune, a group of nine individuals elected from commoners, arbitrates on behalf of commoners and ensures that the laws don't unduly burden them.

Assets

The Republic makes millions of gold pieces worth of goods and materiel by consolidating its raw materials in the capitol and a handful of other cities. Though they begrudgingly trade with dwarves and other humans (primarily through Hisarlik), it's obvious to anyone observing them that the Republic would prefer to simply own the land themselves. In terms of people, technology, and resources, the Republic is the current world powerhouse; 26 legions of troops, each with between 5,000 and 6,000 soldiers, serve as the standing army, with several hundred skyships of varying sizes and an impressive wet navy as well.

History

Founded nearly eight hundred years ago, the Republic has spread slowly to cover a tremendous area, using skyships and brilliant naval strategy to move their formidable legions. A civil war threatened to tear the Republic apart three centuries ago, but the Brass Emperor rose from a monastic order of peacekeapers to take the lead, crushing the leaders of the insurrection and bringing stability to the Republic.
