The Garden

A large park in Bellaron known colloquially as 'The Garden' serves as headquarters for the Garden of Night Blooming Flowers, the elven assassin's guild within the city. Though most laypeople consider this an odd choice, the park has proven to be a brilliant cover. It's public enough that people feel safe entering, and anyone looking to take on the services of an assassin must give a signal when they enter, after which they're approached by an elf. Because the park is adjacent to the small elven neighborhood within the capital, being approached by an elf is not at all unusual, and given the number of senators who have hired assassins very little fuss is made about arrangements in the park. Few have tried to curb the activities of the the guild, with predictable results for their trouble. The Garden of Night Blooming Flowers is an institution in the city, with a veneer of discretion.
The park itself is roughly half a square mile, and boasts fountains using Bellaron engineering and trees imported from the corners of the Empire. Benches and game tables adorn the park and many vendors will pass by during the day to sell food and drink, while at night it's mostly the latter that's consumed. The park also serves as a safe haven; no one may be assassinated within the boundaries, and the elves police the park well, making it ironically the safest place within the city after nightfall. The guild also grows numerous flowers that bloom in the evening or at night to honor their name and founders, creating a splendid view by moonlight. For these reasons many senators congregate g=here in the evening, either scheming or hiding from schemes. 'Sleep on the bench' has become a slang term for people with a contract on their heads, as many will often do just that, finding sanctuary within the garden.
