The Legend of Diamo

The legend of Diamo has its humble beginnings in the kingdom of Elatorr. Elatorr was once ruled by a greedy and tyrannical king. The king would overtax his subjects, enslave them to work in precious metal mines, and kill anyone that did not agree with him. In an attempt to escape this helscape of a living, the people of Elatorr rebelled against the king. Alas, they were no match for the king's army and the ensuing battle saw most of the rebels killed on the battlefield or captured and executed. Among those executed were the parents of a young boy named Diamo. It is said that Diamo shed only one tear for each parent and swore to have his vengeance, sealing the kings fate.   Orphaned at the age of 8, Diamo ran away from the city and into the Immortal Forest. It was in the forest that Diamo was found by a group of hunters who took him in and raised him. They taught him to survive in the wild, how to fight using a bow, and even one hunter was learned enough to teach Diamo reading and writing. It was also during his years in the forest that Diamo one day came upon a strange cave while hunting a deer. Inside the cave Diamo encountered an old man who told Diamo that he recognized him. Wary of this man he had never seen, Diamo asked as to how the old man knew him. The old man replied that he heard Diamo's cry for vengeance on the day of his parents execution and that he was here to help Diamo with that task. Reaching into his robes, the old man retrieved and offered a pair of bracers to Diamo. He told Diamo that as long as he wore the bracers, his arrows would fly to their target. Diamo asked the old man who he was. The old man replied, "Kethas. Now go and seek your revenge Diamo. Have your justice." The old man then disappeared in flash of bright white light. Diamo was stunned as he had just received a gift from the God of Justice.   Donning the bracers Diamo knew who he must defeat, the evil Elatorr king. Diamo began a new rebellion and built support among the people by rescuing them from slave owners and other lieutenants of the king. And true to Kethas' word, every time Diamo aimed his bow the arrow would fly true to his target never missing. The second rebellion finally came to a decisive battle with the kings army on the plains west of the capital city. It was here the king finally showed himself on the battlefield. Diamo spotted the king, notched an oak arrow in his bow and drew it back. A blue light of electricity arced from the bracers and concentrated on the arrow. Diamo released the arrow and it soared through the air in a blue streak and found the king's heart between shield and armor. With the king dead, the rebels emerged victorious.   Diamo became the new king and led Elatorr to a glorious age of prosperity. Feeling that justice had finally been served, Diamo returned the bracers to the cave where Kethas bestowed them. To this day some adventurers will still search the Immortal Forest for that one certain cave, hoping to reclaim the Bracers of Diamo.
