Treant-song
Once spoken by the Great Trees of Kyrn, the language of the Treants, Treant-song, is no longer spoken amongst them. No one is sure as to why the Trees stopped talking, or even if there are any Treants still alive in the Middle Lands.
Once the vast forests of the Middle Lands were filled with the sounds of the Great Trees talking to each other. There are many accounts by people who lived in, or passed through the forests of the past. Even those who did not know what they were hearing were in awe of of the beauty of the sounds. Written descriptions of what was once heard describe sounds greater than what can be heard in the Imperial Music Hall in Quara. It has been described as "soft and flowing" and "uplifting, like a graceful swan at sunrise."
Treant-song is made with a mixture of branches swaying against one another, and the wind passing through the branches as the leaves twist and turn and shape the breezet creating the various vocalizations and patterns that are hauntingly beautiful. It was always next to impossible for someone to speak Treant-song, but with enough study, one could begin to understand it. Conversations through Treant-song often took hours or even days to complete even the simplest exchanges across the miles of forest. One druid, Lathlaeril Lorapeiros, once spent several years in tree form hoping to learn more about the Great Trees and learning their language, but when he finally emerged from tree form, he found the rest of the world to hectic and noisy, and soon returned to tree from for the rest of his life. He did mention in the brief time that he was out of tree form that the trees know more than anyone could imagine, and that people should listen to them more.
