Scrolls of Nedev - October 19, 2022
General Summary
After leaving the shop of Ilic Basi, we headed to the Pig & Pie Tavern located just north of the Farmer's Square in Nedev as that is where Ilic Basi indicated the Succubus Saints could be found. We arrived to find the Pig & Pie dark and boarded over. After looking around a bit, Rankuhm decided to knock on the door, but no one answered. As it was late, and we were not willing to break and enter, we returned to our homes and agreed to meet the next day.
21st day of Palitide, 12th Year of the Reign of Empress Sorsasta, 5728
On the way back to the meetup, Rea asked her mentor, Mistress Plarn, what she knew about the Succubus Saints, and found out they were a little known, and minor gang, one of many that infest the town. Tellum stopped to talk to his father, Tell Gaertheen, to ask what he thought about the upcoming election, and about Ilic Basi and Kelirsa Griff. Master Gaertheen indicated that he was supportive of the Griffs, and accept for Ilic Basi being a halfling, he had nothing bad to say about him.
The heroes meet in the Farmer's Square and discussed plans briefly, and then went back to the Pig & Pie. After knocking and being told to go away, they finally were able to bribe their way into the establishment and speak with Tyrese. After talking for awhile, Tyrese invited them to return in two hours for more information. While the two hours passed, Rea saw one man enter the back door of the Pig & Pie. After re-assembling, the heroes again approached the Pig & Pie, and were let in to meet Bryce Kegman, the owner's son. After coming to an agreement for a payment of 50 gold for the Succubus Saints to hold off on any of their protection racket until after the election of the of the Guildmaster of the Merchant's Guild, Bryse demanded that Rea remain at the Pig & Pie while the money was collected and brought to him. Rankuhm refused and threatened to burn down the tavern, at which point, Bryse ordered the heroes (arsonists?) to leave.
Unsure of what to do next, the party headed back to Ilic's shop to talk to him, but noticed they were being tailed. The confronted their followers in an alleyway, and Rankuhm put them to sleep with his magic. Their weapons were removed and they were searched. They both had the same tattoo on their right wrists, a simple female demon:
After confirming that they work for the Succubus, and being told to deliver a warning not to interfere with the heroes again, the two thugs were let go.
The heroes finally made it to Ilic's shop after confirming they were not being followed. After a long discussion, Ilic admitted that he hired Osben to plant false book-keeping records at the The Griffin in order to discredit Kelirsa Griff, but that he did not ask them to rob the place, nor try to kill them. He also admitted that when Zazar the Younger is scheduled to dine at the Griffin with a young lady, in two days, that he has a person who is going to poison them so that they throw up while eating, thus causing a huge embarrassment to the Griffs.
