Rowroth

The northern wall of spears and horses.

"A hundred raiders? Triple that number, and triple it again, before I am worried." -- Lord General Falos of Rowroth
Rowroth sits on the northern border of the Empire of Kyrnia and takes pride in holding back the Horse Clans from galloping their way south to cause mayhem. The lands are full of small farms and ranches, as well as lots of orchards, but the constant threat of the cans leaves everyone on edge and prepared to fight or flee.

Structure

The Countess Athalum Kacir rules this land with an iron fist. She expects the strictest loyalty from her vassals and has been known to imprison, or execute those who do not please her. As such, her small council is indeed very small consisting of just three advisors that she truly trusts. It is said she has spies in all the nobles households, who tell her of any words or deeds against her. Her Magistrates often roam the land unannounced to find those that are not loyal to the Countess.

Culture

Aside from the almost paranoid nature of the Countess, the people of Rowroth are friendly, albeit somewhat careful in the words they chose. They spend their days working the fields, and then gathered together around the hearth to sing and talk, and tell stories into the night.

Public Agenda

To prevent the Horse Clans from invading.

History

Rowroth has seen a high number of Horse Clan raids over the years, and is always preparing for the next one along the border. The Countess lost her husband 30 years ago in a clan raid, and she believes someone let the raiders know her husbands travel plans, and she has not let go of her anger at that loss either towards the Horse Cans, or to those who might have betrayed her family.

Demography and Population

Military

The military of Rowroth is well trained, equipped  and organized. The common soldier has studded leather, shield and helmet, and a spear, and hand axe. A most of the forces are mounted on horse for mobility, but only about a third of the force is trained in mounted combat.  The Countess and her generals are working to increase the size of the cavalry so that they may conduct counter-raids against the horse clans, or pursue them to good effect.

Religion

The people of Rowroth are faithful and dutiful members of the Children of the Light, but the Countess sees the Children as competing for the resources she needs to fight the Horse Clans, so she does not emphasize their role in the Count.

Agriculture & Industry

Rowroth grows its food in small farms spread through out the land. The southern grasslands in particular are covered with large fields of grains, both for livestock and for consumption. The lands around the Balemouth River have many orchards, and the road from Amerdemea to Sleetlehelm is filled with fruit trees and cideries turning out great varieties of beverages.

The Magistrates of Rowroth operate as most magistrates do, with one exception, many of them work and travel undercover, looking to expose disloyalty amongst the people and the nobility.  They often travel as Bards, or adventurers, so as to gain access to the courts of the nobility, and expose their crimes.
