Dorghulal (Dor-ghul-al)
When the ruins of Dorghulal were discovered and explored by Notorin Swiftarrow in 5705, it was not apparent who once lived there, but the discovery of an ancient entry gate, with the eldritch runes carved into led to the discovery of it's name - The City of the Dead, or Dorghulal in Elvish.
While exploring the city, Swiftarrow's party was attacked by Mushroom Men, and was forced to flee, but in doing so they lost most of their cartography of the Morass of Dorghulal. Later expeditions tried to find the ruins again, but according to Swiftarrow, they were never able to find it. He spent the better part of his last few years trying to find the city once more, for he believed it to hold great treasures, but he never explained to anyone what those treasures might be.
Those who have heard the tales of this city from Notorin, including his family and several nobles he approached trying to secure funding for addition expeditions, heard about the great gate that still guards its border, and the numerous pyramids spread throughout the area, all of it overgrown and crawling with vermin and poisonous animals. While Swiftarrow's family are still true-believers in this mysterious City of the Dead, few others give it any weight, stating that is such a large city existed, surely it would have been found by now.
Architecture
It is told that the city has an encicling wall, that is mostly in ruins and covered with vines and other foliage. The interior of the city has many pyramids, which are believed to be burial tombs, spread throughout, and many smaller rectangular ruins surrounding the pyramids. Notorin Swiftarrow mentioned a large central plaza that had seating like an ampitheatre and many large statues overlooking those grounds.
Geography
The exact location of the city is still unknown, but it has been descriped as being in the center of the Morass of Dorghulal, with the land around it being flat, but densely covered with swamp plants, and low lying areas having several feet of standing water.
