Ryuna's Gift

How the Braided River and its Jewel came to be

"This blessing I give freely to the people of Kyre--- let them always have a piece of myself to find solace in." And with that, Ryuna drew her divine blade and severed one long braid, which fell and became a river.

The tale of how Jewel Pond came to be and why it has its healing power. In short, it formed when a jeweled bead that once adorned Ryuna's very long beard fell to Kyre as she and the other Brazen Gods took their faithful up to Mirala.

A Gift of a Braid

Summary

This tale occurs alongside another legend, that of the ancient Brazen Order's prophecy of disaster just days before the Wake. Although they could not take everyone, the gods still cared about those they had to leave behind. Some left gifts for them, including the goddess of health and prosperity, Ryuna.

She wanted to leave behind a gift that mortals could use to be of good health in the Days of Madness that were to follow. With a divinely forged blade she sliced off a braid off her long, flowing beard and let it fall to the ground, where it formed a river. One adornment on this braid, a precious crystal bead with life-channeling power, sprang up into a pond that could heal any ailment.

Spread

This legend is mostly known to those along the Severbless River, especially those that live in or visit the town of Paboto that was founded around this spring, but one version of it is accepted in the Brazen Order's canon.
