Kyre
The planet itself
The world and all its lands and waters. A rocky planet orbited by two moons, with a year length of about 291 days. It is home to all mortals of the material plane, such as Dwarves, Humans, and Elves among many others.
Geography
Kyre is smaller than Earth, and consists of one super-continent plus change. It has a wide variety of climates, from the deadly cold in the Slehean wastes to the tropical heat of the rainforests in the Thundermaw region. There are large swathes of hot and cold deserts, long coastlines, and enormous mountains.
History
Each region has its own history, but to give a broad overview of global events...
Written history began about (UNDECIDED) years ago, with Berduera valley cultures inventing the first writing system to document trade and plan cities. In the Bronze ages, this culture and others around the globe took to the seas and created sprawling empires that warred, traded, and prospered. The vast majority of these collapsed almost overnight when a second moon appeared in the sky and many arcane spiles were speared through the planet. This was the (NAME), and defined a new epoch.
Magic did exist on Kyre before, but with the appearance of these things it absolutely bloomed. In the chaos, many beasts and mighty beings flooded into the material plane. Although many were malign and caused great destruction, not all were. Some of the more amiable beings were even powerful enough to act as protectors for the shattered remains of civilization, and became their Dynarchs.
Under that ruling system, civilization slowly picked itself up and rebuilt. After a few centuries, the arcane spiles plugged and the areas around them have become hospitable again. Now they are even desirable to live near, since the crystalline substance that plugged them is potent. Aetherite can be used to channel magic, and it's become a valuable trade good.
