Festival of Reflection

A time for healing

"There's nothing like that silence after the clerics toll all the bells around the lake and the magic in the pond awakens and dances in the waves."
— A regular festival attendee

A month-long festival period in Paboto that celebrates the time of year when the healing properties of the Jewel Pond are the strongest. It takes place over the period that Ryuna's constellation can be fully seen above the horizon, around the first solstice of the year.

A Time of Healing

History

This festival started as tradition among Ryuna's acolytes at this religious site, where they would observe how Ryuna's constellation could be seen reflected in the Jewel Pond from the temple. Over time, pilgrims would come to observe this too, and at some point there were too many for the temple so some gathered in canoes in the pond itself to get as close to the goddess's touch as possible.

Eventually with all the canoes on the pond the reflection could not be seen from the temple, but the focus of the festivities shifted to the water, which glows extra brightly during this period. But to honor its roots, many people like to bring or buy mirrors to see the constellation through on the lake.
