Excabridge City

This thriving city, which spreads around the spire of Prismore Mountain, is the largest city in Kryalon. The city is also located on the east bank of the Aquastea River.

Demographics

This city contains a very diverse mixture of races, there being no large racial majority. Despite this, there is some tendency of races being more prevalent in different sections of the city, but this is only seems to be due to families liking to be close together as the younger generation moves out. People here work in a large array of professions, largely middle class.

Government

Excabridge is governed by a mayor, currently Mayor Eryian, and the mayorhood has been in his family since the construction of Excabridge. The mayor is always elected, and it seems that Eryian's predecessors are always elected over any other candidates who run against them. Anyone who makes this connection does not seem to question this for too long, as every generation of mayor is still elected. Recently, other candidates did not even bother to run against the family due to the seeming certainty that Eryian would be elected. Eryian organises meetings with various other town leaders in order to organise trade and issues between towns. He also liaises with business owners and will frequently gauge public in order to improve infrastructure of the city.

Industry & Trade

The city is a host of many businesses, especially ones that are chains and have operations in other towns. There are lots of small businesses, such as shops and a large group of guild professionals who work to provide services and goods to their customers. Another major business is Agrigate Farms, just north of Excabridge, who supplies the capital with most of its food supplies. Quarrying also supplies Excabridge with plentiful stone, some of which is rich in mineral ores which is another valuable export.

Infrastructure

Excabridge has cobbled roads, a mix of stone and brick buildings, and a guarded stone wall around the perimeter of the city. The west gate is very close to a bridge on the Aquastea, built on the main roads westwards towards Opperâtre and Ironbeard. This stone bridge was constructed by Excabridge builders for easy commute to these other cities. The roads exiting the city are dirt paths, that in some places are partly grown over (as is the case with most roads between cities).

History

Initially the Aquastea River passed on the border of the forming settlement. Since, the Aquastea was redirected around such that as the city expanded, there was more room for it to expand to the west. The former position of the river is indicated by a historic bridge near Prismore Mountain which was built such that the settlers could explore the other side of the river. Another scar in the landscape has been converted into Excabridge Quarry, which has expanded drastically. In recent history, the much smaller temple was reconstructed as a mining operation by a group of adventurers (as commissioned by Mayor Eryian) resulted in a large surplus of stone.
