Kroyt

Kroyt - or 'Hero' in the old tongue - is a world that was once united but is now plagued with conflict among it's single continent.   Once upon a time, the entire world was united under the rule of Kroyt, an ancient hero whose name has been forgotten to the ages, that brought peace through war, uniting all of the continents and peoples under one flag, bringing an age of peace and prosperity to the world which has never been seen or felt ever since the Fall.   The Fall is the name given to the event known more extensively as the 'Fall of the Old Empire'. When Kroyt disappeared, the twins Relhen and Untir, his two companions, took upon themselves the mantle of ruling the Empire. Due to their divergences in matters of ruling, the two made an agreement to each rule a different realm: Relhen would rule over the north, and Untir the south. Both met their demise due to their own paranoia after a few years of ruling their respective lands, meddling into ancient secrets misunderstood by them. Then, without anyone to rule and keep them in check, the powerful people that worked under the two twins, gathered their followers and fought between themselves. What emerged afterwards were the various sovereign states that would develop into those of today.   The Fall was 5,000 years ago.   The once highly civilized lands of the north - the republics of K'harra - now share insults and are on the brink of warring among themselves, employing mercenaries and their own retinues to seek and study dangerous relics and artifacts in order to gain an advantage over their neighbours... While in the south, Rommen Greenshield of Archivale has betrayed a centuries-long treaty and declared himself Kroyt reincarnated, beginning a bloody war of conquest that threatens all of the southern kingdoms. The Empire of Zi'nithar, secretive and mysterious even now, stands as a bulwark against the Greenshields, having formed the Pact of the Silver Sun between themselves and the rest of the southern kingdoms in order to defeat and repeal their enemies.   In the center of the continent rests Durnholde, a truly marvelous city-state that tries to stay away from any political affairs in the world. Their people are highly sought for counseling and command positions due to their high aptitude for the more intellectual and magical affairs of the world - their highly magical blood giving them tremendous abilities when it comes to both physical and mental attributes.   The people suffer beneath the boot of war, and if the Gods do not answer their prayers, then who will?
