The Pools of the White Cliff
On the edge of the city of White Cliff where the houses end there are the covered pools of the white cliff, the building itself is carved from the cliff rather than built as such and so when viewed from a distance it disappears into the cliff itself, within the building have been carved a number of shallow pools some carry heated water for those that prefer it, but the main reason people visit is for the ingenious salt water pools along sea-facing side of the building. The water in these pools is being constantly replaced by the waves against the cliff face below through a process that is closely guarded by the house.
People travel from all over the settled lands to spend time at the pools which are said to lead to a longer life, whilst for those living within the city it is widely seen as a place of meeting with many of the merchants using it as a place to discuss business informally, with many a handshake agreement being made on leaving the pool.
The pools themselves are carved into the ground with steps down into each, the stone the same white marble that makes up the entirety of the cliff the city is built onto, has been worn smooth over the centuries with seats also carved into the sides of the pools for the patrons comfort, for much of the length of the main room their are two rows of pools the seaside ones being the more numerous salt water pools, whilst on the cliffside are the ones filled with heated water or freshwater. As the long room narrows towards the end there are only the saltwater pools and these are spaced further apart allowing for a measure of privacy, and are usually favoured by the local merchants and such who enjoy their privacy.
At the far end is a door set into the waill guarded by two of the bathhouse attendants, what is through there is not widely known, but it leads deep under the cliff to a secret cave lagoon that is filled from below and was the inspiration for the building of the original pools along the cliff edge, also off this chamber have been carved many private rooms going up 3 levels via a spiraling bath carved into the wall, each one containing private pools some on the top level owned by the local nobility whilst lower down are those which can be used by any with the right coin, with the attendants filling the pools to the prference of the patron, hot/cold fresh/salt water they will do whaatever they are asked, some of the more exotic requests being for wine or milk (a rumour amongst attendants is there was once a lord who wanted to only bath in blood though whether that is true is very much in doubt). There are also rumours that other services are provided to the patrons of the pools that they would not advertise if it was true.
