Koskalko

For centuries, the Sun Emperor has protected the people of Koskalko from the threats of the night. Wielding the Amulet of the Sun and the divine magic in his blood, the Sun Emperor would cause the sun to rise every morning, weakening the monsters that once inhabited Koskalko. Under the Sun Emperor, the people of Koskalko prospered. Centuries have passed since the first Sun Emperor brought their people to Koskalko. Since the collapse of the First Empire of the Sun, and for several factors, the Sun Emperor has found exceeding difficulty keeping the sun rising each morning. The four kingdoms of Koskalko that rose following the collapse of the First Empire of the Sun are now all on a thread.   Threats seem to lurk around every corner. The monsters of the night that once roamed Koskalko have returned, threatening the many isolated villages that were once protected by the First Empire of the Sun. Threats abound even between the four kingdoms and many poleis of Koskalko when there is constant strife. Even the more reasonable races of Koskalko threaten the peace, like the Elves seeking to reclaim the land for themselves, and the Dwarves that escaped slavery and now prepare for a crusade against the human kingdoms. Koskalko is a keg of gunpowder attached to several fuses, and the instrument that may bring Koskalko to its destruction is there to take.   The renowned Thunderbolt, a weapon once wielded by a great hero, has been rediscovered. The various organizations of Koskalko see this weapon as an opportunity to fulfill all of their desires. This weapon may be the straw that breaks the idiomatic camel's back, causing civilization in Koskalko to collapse. A new dark age is on the horizon, and this will be a dark age without the sun.
