An exploration of the unexplored North

The name of the two original notebooks, made by Milo the Chartographer and Duncan the monk during their exploration of the north coast of the west continent. They contain notes on flaura and fauna, maps and drawings of lanscapes as well as charts and alalysis of the weather.

The Begining

Milo when he emparked was actualy looking for a lost artifact The Sea Sword. The morphology of the north coast made it an ideal lute hidding place for pirates, who used to stash their findings into some cave complex hidden enough and that the could locate again. Milo had been tracing the sword thgouhout history and believed that it must have been hidden in one of them. His mission however was founded from the current World Trade Accociation leader on the purpose it would determine a good strategy for expanding the organisations trade, including the founding of a new port and establishing a new trade route.

The Divergence

During the first year Milo did not completely discard his task and kept thourough notes that could appear usefull. However after he hired Duncan the Monk as a guard and co-traveler, they soon discarded their original purpose and entirely focused on the search for the artifact. They visited many caves, coloumn-rocks and hilsides and became very accustomed to the way of life in the north. In some caves they would find some pirate loot which came in handy when the WTA ceased the founding due to lack of results.

The Travel Logs

Duncan and Milo had a very specific rutine. They first made a wide scetch of all the north coastline. Then they approached the seaside and repeated the travel but from the sea side, by boat. This way they even maped all dangerous underwater parts of the coast. Duncan many times had to dive to confirm an underwater rock or passage. Traveling in the sea brought them in contact with some of the pirates of the arrea. Once they were even caught and spent 3 days on a pirate ship, but eventualy managed to escape thanks to the superior knowleng of the cave system of the arrea. They made it a habit of visiting caves that pirates stached loot and borowing what they needed. The maps of the cave complexies of the north coast are one of the most miraculus documents in the history of the world. They even kept detailed descritpions of the animals and plants they met, as well as what would be eaten what should not. Their interactions with local human and halfling also gave them feed for further explorations. Their ultimate purpose, the Sea Sword, seemd to indeed have been in the arrea. Their final expedition including following an underwater shaft to reach a half floded blocked cave. Milo barely made the trip in order to get in there. The cave used to be a natural port but had been detached from the sea after a rockslide. In the midle of the underwater part the was a suncken halfling ship which they ere convinced that was the spif the Sword went down with. Thgouht the longs this scenatio was the only that made sence. However although Duncan spend hours and hours diving itno the wrechage we did not manage to find the sword. The next best thing they got was a hilt of a shortsword that mached the descritions but unfortunately was empty. Milo eventualy called of the mission and among with the sword hilt he returned to falcrest. The hild stayed with his mafily thoufhtou the eons as a heirloom. Duncan on the other hand chose to stay in the north eventualy fullfiling his oun destiny.

Currently

After Milo died in Falcrest, all of his unpublised work (i.e everything but his maps) was sent to Duncan the monk for safekeeping. Duncan wass still quite young and kept them safe until the end of his days, aproximately half an eon later.During these days he made sure that all of the usefull parts would be copied and filed carefully and eventualy publised part of them as notes of the nature of the north. Remaining and more sensitive information were left secret and eventualy were buried with him by his students. Inside Duncan's tomb is the only knowledge in the whole world about the Sea Sword.
