The Cerulean Sentinels
The Cerulean Sentinels, more commonly known as The Sentinels are a knightly order bent on protecting and defending innocents of Korrisia and beyond. The Sentinels are one of the oldest orders in written history, and claim to date their founding back to the Reign of the Twin Brothers, and their earliest members were charged with protecting the innocents by the Progenitor God Garenthar.
The Sentinels are not like a typical order of knights. They have no great hall, no fortress that stands tall against the ages. Most knights are simply travelers that make their way throughout the known world, and take contracts to serve and protect innocents or fellow travelers. During their adventures, should a Sentinel take notice of one who distinguishes themselves and has the right intentions in their heart, the Sentinel will extend an offer to travel with the potential candidate longer.
From the time that a candidate joins the Sentinel until the Sentinel finds a Master or the Grandmaster, it is up to the Sentinel Knight to train the initiate in the ways of the Order. During this time, the Knight also observes and ensures that this initiate is ready and capable of serving the Order. Once the candidate has proven they are ready, the Knight will offer them to "Take the Blue" and initiate them.
Most knights who join also remove themselves from any other obligations that could tether them to a place or another organization. Several lords, counts, dukes, even kings have renounced their claims and holdings to join the Sentinels.
Structure
Grandmaster - In charge of all major decisions, final say on matters.
Master - A veteran and notable member of the Order. Are able to initiate new members to the order and command knights. Are often those who issue a "Call to Arms" when multiple knights are needed in one location.
Knight - Given full protections, rights, and responsibilities of the Sentinels. Knights are charged with wandering the lands and providing aid and protection to others.
Culture
The Cerulean Sentinels devoted itself to the healing and defense of the innocent, the weak, the sick, and others who could not protect themselves. Its members were generally peaceful and always tried to help, and rarely did they seek out evil to slay. They were not pacifists, however, nor opposed to such actions, and did not hesitate to fight when confronted by evil. Still, members felt their role was focused more toward healing and protection than battle.
Other members focused their training towards combat. In most cases, these knights fight defensively, working to protect those weaker or not as able to handle direct confrontation.
