Dolmus Ophren

Steward of Light (a.k.a. The Mad Steward)

Dolmus Ophren was one of the most infamous religious heads in the history of Korrisia. Ophren was the Steward of Light, the Pontiff in the Temple of Lathandar. Dolmus started his tenure as the Steward of Light with compassion, bravery, and love for the people of the world. Dolmus would come to be known as The Mad Steward after he descended into madness, believing that he had learned Lathandar was imprisoned in physical form in the plane Jotunheim. Dolmus spent months drawing celestial beings to him and showing them his truth, corrupting them to his new order.   Ophren's order was seen as an extremist sect known as The Hidden Sun. The tenants of the Morninglord were perverted and weaponized to permit the harsh actions of the Temple. Being one of the largest Temples, most Stewards remained silent towards Ophren's actions out of fear of retaliation.   Ophren's goal was to invade Jotunheim, destroy Lathander's captors, and free the deity from his mortal prison. The Hidden Sun grew quickly over just a few short years, with many faithful being twisted by the fallen celestials in Ophren's service. The Hidden Sun would tear into the plane of Giants, bringing holy fire and rage. Countless mortals from the Material Plane and Jotuns would fall in battle. Dolmus Ophren and his most faithful entered the Jotun fortress and discovered the sarcophogus that imprisoned their Lord of the Sun. Dolmus realized across the casing were not demonic or mortal abjuration runes, but divine. Dolmus cursed the many gods for turning against one of their own. As he shattered the locks, and uttered the magics of the Ritual of Awakening, he heard a booming voice begging that he cease his actions. Dolmus further cursed the deceiving deities and demons who turned against the Morning Lord and shattered the last locks, freeing his captive Lord.   What emerged was not the Morninglord, there was no beam of sunlight and the smile of a thankful deity, but a dark creature of pure unfiltered evil, Sul Khatesh, the Underlord of Secrets, child of Kormund. Sul Khatesh thanked her servant for his sacrifice, and she immediately slaughtered all present. Sul Khatesh called down flaming boulders from the heavens and annihilated everything within miles before vanishing in a cloud of black mist.
