King Ramone Valdore

Technically the last king of Valthorin and the last of the Valdore bloodline. Ramone took the throne during a time of peace. His was expected to be an uneventful reign. Then troubles began and increased to such a tumult that many bards theorize he must have been cursed.

It started after Angtris' war with the dark elves. Valthorin gained a lot of wealth trading down the Hawk Bane river. The various small kingdoms each gave some, but Angtris was the biggest port and source of the most wealth. With that gone, most of the trade died.

Just a couple of years later, Dragonhold was nearly destroyed in civil unrest. Shortly afterwards Ramone became paranoid and fearful of his throne. He turned cold and callous. Then, after a few months, he was back to normal.

Bards and messengers spread tales that both Dragonhold and Ramone's troubles were the work of a demon from the Dark One. Others claimed Ramone was just insane and could not be trusted anymore. Whispered rumors of his temper, instability, and greed filled both tavern and hall. Nobles of all ranks began to renounce their oaths of fealty.

The Chaos Wheel had started to turn. For the next eight years, Ramone did all he could to hold his kingdom together. He witnessed trusted friends betray him. All his family was murdered by assassins or died in the fighting and disease. By the final turning of the Wheel, Ramone had won back the trust and love of the city of Valthore but died in one final assassination. He left behind a queen with no heir and a kingdom, torn, burned and ripped asunder.
