Architecture
Exterior
Cloudflower Inn boasts old-fashioned brick-style architecture with pale stained clay brick decorating water-tight concrete walls. The dark roof is angled so runoff water goes into the surrounding filter gardens and into the drainage pipes. We have a lovely covered porch with heat lamps where you can sit to dry off before coming inside. Teal-stained columns hold up the roofs, and offer coverage for when you initially step outside. Most rooms have an exterior window for the patron's viewing pleasure.
Interior
Please leave your boots, raincoats, umbrellas, and rainhats at the provided cabinets by the entryway. When you first step in, you'll see our lobby, which has several plush couches and chairs, tables to sit at, a large bookcase with a variety of fiction and non-fiction to choose from. Ahead, the door to the right is the public restrooms, which include three regular stalls, a disabled stall, two showers, and several sinks. The door to the left is the office, furnished with antique wood chairs and desk, where you can pay for your visit or discuss needs, accommodations, and services with the owners. To the right of the lobby is our dining and serving area, where meals will be served on our antique wood and marble counters. Coffee, fresh water, and tea are provided throughout the day. Down the hall you will find our 7 rooms, each with a soft double bed, private bathroom that includes a toilet, sink, and shower, and a table and chair. We have two larger rooms, which have a double and single bed, a bookcase, closet, table, and desk, along with private bathrooms. The owners do live on site, so if you have an emergency, don't feel shy! Come knock on our door, down the hall from the lobby to the left.
The Garden
Our hydroponic garden can be visited with permission through the kitchen. We have state of the art Nutrient Film Technique garden that grows fruits and veggies alike from vertical tubing. The reservoirs are all underneath the floor, accessible via the hatch nearby the work table in the corner of the room. Along the right wall are our wick system, water culture, and ebb and flow grow beds, which grow lettuce and herbs. Do-it-yourself harvesting can be done for a small extra cost!
