Keanu live the quiet life of a druid,being a steward of the land and staying out of peoples way. Caring for the area between the Outh Mountains and the Obake Sea he enjoyed the long life and good health that comes with sharing a link to the land.
So when King Aichappuinada sent his army and craftsmen to cut down a forest for making siege engines in 4837, while not happy he allowed it, as taking sides in the wars of nations was not something he wanted, and given time the forest would return. Twenty years later when The Charred Brigade passed through, burning everything in their path, he was angered, and some credit their reduced numbers at the siege of Otterwick. Granted, all records kept by the Charred Brigade were lost in the Myrdhor Desert 2 years later, but accounts of the siege put their numbers closer to 1200 than the nearly 2000 that are credited to them earlier in the war.
However, most credit the final straw as when, in 4865, now Emperor Aichappuinada commissioned an otter fur cloak. This fashion statement led to others desiring otter pelt items. Within 2 years every otter in the forest had been killed with the exception of one family. Keanu smelled smoke and tracked it to a stream in the woods, just in time to see a trapper had smoked the otter family out of its den and watched as the last one was killed.
Vowing vengeance on those who took natures bounties for granted Keanu nurtured the smouldering branches still nearby as he had nurtured his anger for years. An inferno was called forth, burning the trapper until only charred boned remained.
Keanu is now believed to be the embodiment of the Flames of Vengance. He has not aged since the otter family was killed. He is wanted in several countries and by several different races for several thousand murders. Most notably, some credit him with the gradual decline of the kingdom Aichappuinada left behind for his heirs.(of course he is credited with the decline, he is solely responsible for killing 13 noble families, 7 generals, 1 battalion, 5 different scout squadrons, destroying half the Royal Navy, and killing 3 different heirs to the throne over the years. Its no wonder he is considered persona non grata in the entire kingdom)
