Grand Wizard Kitoypoy Character in Kohtalo | World Anvil

Grand Wizard Kitoypoy

Kit, and those he is in charge of, spend all their time protecting the rest of us from horrors we have never heard of in a battle we dont know is happening. Unlike the storm giants, he also writes things down and then shares it with others, which is a might bit more than the giants ever did.
— Jasper Cameron, Leader of the Bronze Ravens

Deep in the Dragon's Spine mountains sits a collection of mountains collectively known as Wizard's Peak. In the valley below sits a... rift I suppose you could say, a stable gateway to realms of horror and kindoms of evil that seek to spill out and infect our world. Some say the rift is only a century or two old. Others maintain that it is likely millinea old and the constant vigilance of those that watch over it are the only reason our world has not fallen to darkness
Some say a lot of stupid things, it is codified in the myths of 2 orc tribes, goblins the world over have stories of it, and it is featured in the carved history of several dwarf clans. Its probably left over from The Storm Giant Empire, who knows, it may even be related to their fall, but I digress.

Early Life

We know almost nothing of Kitoypoy's early life. Presumably he was brought up in the area. At some point he decided that if nobody else was going to do anything about the tide of evil creatures coming from the hole in the world he might as well do it himself. Some say he started his quest after his village was destroyed by creatures from the rift. Others say he is a foreigner who heard of the regions the plight and decided to make it his goal to protect the region and the world from evil. Regardless, through circumstance or experience he trained in ways martial and arcane to succeed at his goal, and succeed he has.

Current Affairs

To say that the Grand Wizard and the region of Wizard's Peak are known the world over is slightly inaccurate. To hear the Instructor tell it "If we are doing our Job right, the world at large need never know of the battles fought here, the children of this world can sleep soundly in their beds at night, free of fear, and that is thanks enough."
Its true enough that in places like this you can divide people into the quick and the dead. Quickest way to the second group is to not listen when Kitoypoy starts givin' advice or orders.
— Christopher Clark, Entertainer

Many adventuring guilds, bardic colleges, and knightly orders send recruits to Wizards Peak, both to assist in the worlds protection and so that these recruits can gain some real battle experience. Only the best are sent, for even in the best of times casualties are expected. BUt those that emerge are some of the greatest defenders of hope and good in the world at large. And they all sing the praises of the Grand Wizard Kitoypoy's leadership.
Kitoyoy sits in his house/tower of Blackjack and oversees the struggle daily. Through both mystical and mundane means he records what information he can glean of the foes faced and desiminates that information to the world at large. Through his uncounted years here he can read the ebb and flow of both the rift and the confliccts around it, lending aid where he need to and directing the movement of forces to the benefit of the world at large. In the living memory of the longest lived races, no invader has broken through the defences of the Peak.

Sources of Income

Much of the income for Wizard's Peak comes from the loot of battles. While not all other dimensional beings carry coins or weapons and armor that can be salvages, there is quite a bit of trade in things like demon bones and devil's horns. Granted, you must find yourself a merchant willing to brave the dangers, but most guilds of note have caravans that make it to Wizard's Peak at least annualy.

The House of Blackjack

O' course his house changes, don't make it no different from any other wizrds house. The'r always tinkering and addin' on this doo-dad and that magical thinger-ma-jig. But I tell ya true Blackjack moves around the peaks time ta time. Dont ask me how, I ain't heard o' no other wizard even able to port a mug down a bar without somethin going horribly wrong. Boy that arcane cannon on th' side is a sight an' sound when it starts a boomin, thats the stone's truth.

I love that Kit got featured too, and I love that Christopher Clark got to say something about Kit in the call-out quote. Feels appropriate!
