Hlaugrotta

Hlaugrotta is a settlement about 500 feet from where the Wall currently resides. This settlement is built out of a former maximum security prison setup by Goliath's to house those that killed tribes and destroyed clans. It is a large structure, with a large spire in the middle that has a cement moat between it and the ground around it. Whoever was held at Hlaugrotta is now gone, the structure that remains has been converted into a sprawling market, as well as a distribution hub for supplies all along the Northern Wall.

Demographics

The most prominent race in Hlaugrotta is Halflings, followed by Humans and Orcs. Everyone works their fair share of the permanent residents.

Government

It's run by a Governor, appointed by the people of the city every 2 years. In addition there are a number of city titles, most elected with the Governor. These Governor's report to the Providence Council on a quarterly basis, usually through some means available to the settlement.

Defences

There are posts at each of the 5 entry points, as well as guards in the Spire overlooking the entire settlement and it's surroundings. Should anything violent happen either in or around, the Guard will know of it. A lot of the heads of the Guard have been there since the caravan made Hlaugrotta it's home.

Industry & Trade

The biggest thing that keeps the settlement afloat is it's integration with the supply chain of the Artificer's Reclaimed Territories. Everything surrounds that, supporting the rest of the community on it's shoulders. Everyone knows someone

Infrastructure

A lot of it's former cells are now storage for various goods, and there are a few sections that have been turned into living quarters and a couple of inns and taverns. Every establishment pays a reasonable tax on whatever good or service that they sell, and that's how the Governor pays it's Artificer Guardsmen that it commissions from the Guild.

Architecture

It's all cement walls, metal doors and iron bars throughout, all designed to house goliaths. The residents have put all kinds of posters, wooden and cloth additions to the cement structure, personalizing their living quarters and businesses.
