Novata's Summer Camp 2022 Pledge Document

It's my second Summer Camp with World Anvil, and I was worried that the system wouldn't fit with my priority of putting together the things that I already know about the Known Universe.   And then, it hit me:

Creative Goal and Motivation

For this year Summer Camp, I plan to focus on the worldbuilding of Ogha, one of the two utopia-like worlds in the Known Universe.   It may be difficult to use some of the prompts for this, but that's okay, it will be like exploring parts of this world that I didn't know before.

Why?

Ogha has been a paragon in the Know Universe's stories and they actively participate in the Enlightened Worlds Community, which means this world is relevant in several stories and articles.   I never had a reason to actually "visit the place" tough. There are details here and there, but only now I'm working in a story that takes place there. Isn't that a lucky coincidence?   Also, I like Ogha. I just do.

Challenge goal

I'm aiming for Diamond, I'll plan with the goal of writing the 31 prompts and I think I can do it, I've done it before.   But, just in case something gets in the way and I'm not able to earn the badge, I will try to complete the prompts at my time anyway. Yes, that's part of the pledge. I won't ignore urgent things (or my health/peace of mind) to finish, but that doesn't mean I'll give up.

Themes

Now, here is where I get nervous. The themes are the reason why I worry about how hard it can be to give good use to the prompts. I'll try to find a way.
  • The Expanse prompts will probably end in totally new things, not only because of the "location" vibes, but because I have the feeling that inhabited areas are not big enough... but we'll see about that. At least I have the sea, right?
  • I have high hopes on the Leadership prompts, because there is a lot of duality in how leadership works in that world where "terrible things never happen" and everybody is equal.
  • "If something works, Don't touch it!" And yet, Change is unavoidable and... How does it constantly happens without destroying the perfect balance of a world? Oh, right, with solid foundations and subtle but effective leadership.
  • You will be surprised to know that I'm not worried about the Monstrous beings (and places if properly linked with the first theme) in Ogha. Because this world is not a fake utopia based on the lack or denial of dangers. I may not be ready for this, but the characters that live in Ogha totally are.
  • As you may have noticed, I am determined to try and link the themes, but I'm not ready to decide how. Let's wait to see the prompts. (Or the next homework assignment?)

    Articles

    Long story short

    Period
    July 2022.

    Creative Goal
Explore Ogha through the Summer Camp prompts

    Motivation
    • I need the worldbuilding for my stories, especially the current WIP: Coincidental.
    • I want to write about Ogha.

    Challenge Goal
    Diamond (31 articles).

My guess on how themes will apply
Expanse and Change should give me trouble, Leadership will be useful, and Monstrous will bring me joy.
Drawing connections between all the themes will be all that and more?
    Inspiration / Meta
Yeah, the only thing I really have about Ogha are ideals. Everything could happen in Ogha, after all (except behaviors that hurt others, of course).   Several ancient cultures willing to develop new ideas and learn form other civilizations, they welcome everyone if they are not trouble, they share everything as long as it's actually needed. Nobody is allowed to be useless, nobody is forced to do anything. Simple. Right?   I have a short playlist, mostly ambiance sounds that I would probably play in specific combinations depending on what I'm writing about, and more important, I have a map:
    Planet
    Fifth
    Layer
    Immemorial Plane
    Status
    Enlightened
Map designed by Escritora Novata, using Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator.

    Schedule
The plan is to have 1 hour long writing sessions every day; each Saturday I'll check my progress and see if the schedule needs to be adjusted.

    Support
Well, there is a couple of groups on Discord where I think I can go with questions when I'm lost. Who knows if they will be busy or inspired, but they like to help.
