My Summer Camp 2021 Worldbuilding Pledge Document
Hello, this is Sally, the fictional scientist that is trying to document the (also fictional) Know Universe for you. Other than the Meta, everything in this world is my work (which is the way our Escritora Novata, the writer, avoids responsibility, but I don’t mind).
I’m not breaking the fourth wall, just opening a
window. Here I can talk to the writer. For the articles in other categories, we’ll pretend she’s not there. I think that’s all you need to know, we can start with the… pledge?
Pledge. That’s a strong word. This is mostly a reverse character interview, but the silly mind behind this terribly developed universe says there is an event of some sort and she wants to take part in it. So, let’s call it “a pledge” and start with the questions.
S. Escritora Novata is here to pledge to take part in worldbuilding summer camp 2021, let's explore the details. First of all:
Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to?
E.N. Well, there are plenty of short novels and stories that exist under the same rules, and characters and places that coexist there.
S. Not to mention all those things you didn’t actually write.
E.N. That happened once! And I fixed it. Sort of. But yeah, I need to put some things in order in the Know Universe if I want to keep writing the stories that take place there. And I do want to.
S. I guess that also answers the next question:
What world are you working on?
E.N. Sure. Since the main goal is to put together what I know about this world universe, this is where I would do most of the prompts, if not all. There is a slight chance of…
S. Really? Again with Aaron and Molly? You are so dispersed. Even when you write about us you focus more on those stories that didn’t really happen, just because one or two foreseers remember it.
E.N. I’ll focus on the facts for summer camp. OK?
S. I should make sure of that. Next question:
Which area of the Known universe, and that other world, are you working on?
E.N. The plan is to keep it to the worlds’ detail, abilities and maybe a few organizations and objects. There are too many stories and characters from the Known Universe, so I’ll rather not focus on them, unless they are part of history or lore.
For the other world I'll focus on the characters and a bit of the setting.
For the other world I'll focus on the characters and a bit of the setting.
S.
How much are you aiming to complete?
E.N. All of the prompts, of course. It would be a good start for the world. I’m still not sure if I’m supposed to publish one each day though. I probably won't be able to do that.
S.
When will you write, then?
E.N. Oh, no, that I’ll do every day. Not much on busy days, but I’ll write at least a bit everyday.
S. I’ve heard that before. But maybe you’ll make it with a little help from your friends. Which leads to the next question:
Who is your support network?
Please don’t say Ángel or Ameriev.
E.N. Actually, that would be you this time. Your PoV and 31 prompts are enough inspiration to have my mind working.
As for accountability and advice, I hope I’ll find that in Infinite imaginations and WB: Magic and technology servers. Uhm. I shouldn’t rely on discord only… I’ll probably tell about this to my beta reader, she seems to be fond of one or the Know Universe characters; maybe she can remind me to write everyday.
Is someone in the audience interested in being accountability buddies?
S. Well, you have the collection of images and that sort of random playlist… But, even better:
Do you have a tracker for this? Can we see it?
E.N. Right! I love those. I’ll draw one before the end of June. Or I’ll use the spreadsheet from last year. I’ll show you that later… if it’s presentable.
S. Now, for the second session, I know you don't want to talk about how terrible you are with images art in general; and I don't want to think about how this world's map is a spreadsheet but the other world has a map. You're also working in maps for that collab story that takes place all over some universe. Are you sure it's a coincidence that you ended working in that? Nevermind. Back to the questions: What have you being doing this week? E.N.
Organizing my Worldbuilding!
I have a long list of required articles for both worlds now. And the topic of tags and Categories is settled, I think. Here are the ones related to this world:

For SummerCamp I’ll use tags reserved for Staging Area category even when the articles won't be in that category. I’ll need that later.
I have a map for the main city in the Nameless Country, but I have inspiration images for this wold, right? And I could actually do something with the images from the pixabay collection. I'm just letting images for after the writing. S. That never works well. But, fine. I bet format is a task for later too. E.N. Just this time, because I'm exploring. S. Oh, well.
